Time is ticking away . . .

Tick . . . tick . . .tick . . .

As I am writing this, time has past that I cannot reclaim.  Time is one of the most precious commodities we as humans possess and yet is one of our most wasted resources.  As we delved into Revelation 11 this week, we were reminded that just as time had a beginning, it will have an end.  In the span of time between now and the end of time, things in this world are progressing toward God's judgment.  This means that there will be increasing rebellion and unrest in the world (probably not the news we want to hear to brighten our day).  It is inevitable because of what the scriptures teach.

While there are differences of opinion with regard to interpreting Revelation, no serious students of the Bible disagree on the finality of this world and the consummation of God's eternal kingdom.  Sometimes knowing time's future events can be a bit disturbing.  It was hard to hear in chapter 11 that things are going to get so bad that God's holy city, temple, and people are going to be overrun with wicked rebellion and abused.  The questions that matter are: What will we do with the knowledge of the future we have been given? How will we use our precious time in light of Jesus' return?
Tick . . . tick . . . tick . . .
